How about getting your podcast out into the real world? Yes, beyond just social media, the day will break down three simple ways to promote your podcast face to face. Welcome to Geelong podcasters. Your weekly podcast for tips and tricks to grow your audience. We are a group of passionate podcasters located in Geelong and the bellerine in Victoria, Australia. If you're down our way at the end of the month, why not come to one of our free monthly meet up events, and also find the booking links and more in the show notes. I don't want to be too salesy of my podcast or about my podcast. Well, if you're wanting to get more listeners, especially using face to face tactics, you're going to have to start talking about your podcast now these next three examples that I'll give you are not necessarily ones that will resonate with everyone, but pick and choose. Which tactics do you think will work best for the type of audience that you want to build and grow, and also who you want listening to your podcast? First off, the rank is sharing about your podcast or relevant podcast episodes at events and meetups that your audience will be attending. So go to where your audience hangs out. Are there meetups, workshops, industry events like comic cons or conventions that are related to the your topics or your talking points. People are going to be interested in what you have to talk about if it's in that the right context for them, how you casually bring up your podcast is by mentioning relevant episodes or topics of conversation without being too salesy. You can bring it up in conversations if it's a casual networking thing, or if you want to feel free to provide maybe simple business cards with your podcasting information you that you can hand out nothing too flashy, just thinking something that you can use either Vistaprint or many print demand services out there, if you find that you are attending or hanging out at a lot of these events where people are genuinely Interested in what you do, having something physical that you can give them, that is hopefully, that is recyclable by the way, that you can give to them, they are going to find that more beneficial, and you're going to have a listener full length. Another tip to keep in mind is to maybe think about a couple of your either most popular episodes or episodes that are really good introductions to your podcast and also your topic conversation to get people really on board. The next thing is to partner with local businesses. These local businesses can be a gold line for connections and listeners, and it also allows you to improve your connection with local community members. You can chat with owners, maybe leave some flyers or some cards at their either coffee shops, co working spaces, where, again, we're thinking about your audience here, where are they going to see it, and where are they going to find it, and what is it going to and what is going to resonate better with them. Make sure that you get businesses that your customer bases will be at is crucial here, making sure you keep it simple and make sure you actually help out the business too. It's a win win if you are leaving say, for example, flyers and cards there, as I mentioned before, saying that you'll shout them out on the podcast, or make sure that they have say a monthly spot to let us know what their their current wares are in their business. You can use that as a pseudo opportunity to advertise, but also you can use that as an opportunity to showcase that you work well with sponsors. Ah, got me there. Yeah. The third thing I want to do for in person ways to promote your podcast, is to tell your mates, is to tell your family members. The power of personal recommendations and word of mouth is so powerful in the business and podcasting world alike, doing it casually, of course, is very important. And if say, for example, you're talking to say, an older relative who doesn't quite understand what a podcast is. Podcast is, I usually just say it's radio on demand, and they usually get it most of the time. You don't have to do anything over the top. Just think, what would you know the friends of theirs are interested in your particular topic? Oh, I do a podcast about that. Here's my podcast name, making sure that it's simple and easy for them to remember, or give them one of your business cards from the examples a couple of examples ago, some of the best feedback I get are from family and friends, and if they are not there to support you, I'm not saying you need a ditch family. I'm just saying maybe it's an opportunity to think about, why do they not want to support you on this venture? And then you'll usually get to the heart of the issue there. And don't worry, even people who do not regularly listen to podcasts are always up to spread the word about you, because they love you and they're your family and your friends. To wrap up today, make sure to attend regular events and meet ups where your audience will be partner with local businesses that you will regularly keep in touch with and leverage good. Old fashioned word of mouth with people who love and cherish and support you in person. Promo doesn't have to be harder pushy. Just be yourself and get your podcast in front of the right people, and you will go from there. Thank you so much for joining us for this episode of Geelong podcasters.
